Digital Desk, Bhopal. World Mental Health Day is celebrated on 10 October across the world. Today we are part of a world where mental health is a very important subject. The busy schedule of the day is affecting our mental health in some way or the other, due to which many diseases also flourish. According to a WHO report, 280 million people worldwide suffer from depression, while almost 1 in 5 children and adolescents suffer from mental disorders. In addition, it is reported that 10% of the world’s population is affected by mental, neurological disorder disease and 30% of the total population is affected by non-malignant disease.

What are the figures for India?
Talking about ‘The Global Burden of Disease Study 1990 – 2017’, there are 197.3 million people in India suffering from various types of mental disorders, which is one in seven Indians. There has been a two-fold increase in the number of diseases caused by mental disorders in the country. This figure has increased from 2.5% in 1990 to 4.7% in 2017 in India.
