After making an impressive debut in the Indian Premier League (IPL) with Sunrisers Hyderabad, Jammu and Kashmir pacer Umran Malik has been asked to stay in UAE (UAE) as India’s net bowler for the T20 World Cup. . The 21-year-old, who played only two senior level domestic matches before the start of the IPL, has impressed Indian skipper Virat Kohli so much that he has been called as the net bowler with the team.
Umran impressed many with his fast pace bowling this season. He was bowling consistently at 150 kmph. He also bowled the fastest ball of IPL at a speed of 153 kmph. Umran’s father is the owner of a fruit shop.
A source close to the SRH franchise told PTI on the condition of anonymity, “Yes, Umran is staying here as he will join the Indian team India’s bio-bubble as a net bowler.”
In his debut season of IPL, this fast bowler took two wickets in three matches. His team, however, finished last in the table. Indian captain Kohli also praised Umran. “This tournament brings forth talent every year, it’s good to see a player bowling at 150 kmph. It is important to understand the progress of the players from here,” Kohli said earlier this week.
The Indian team will start its campaign against Pakistan on 24 October in the T20 World Cup.
