New Delhi. The league stage of IPL 2021 was supposed to end as it happened. The last match was played between Royal Challengers and Delhi Capitals (RCB vs DC) and its result also came on the last ball. KS Bharat hit a six off the last ball of Delhi fast bowler Avesh Khan to give RCB a thrilling victory. However, the result of the match could have gone in anyone’s favour. Because in the last over, RCB had to score 15 runs to win. Only 10 runs came in the first five balls of Avesh Khan.
In such a situation, RCB needed 5 more runs off the last ball to win this match. That is, the match could have been won only by hitting a six. It was not easy for any batsman to do this on the last ball. But Bharat hit a six while throwing water on Delhi’s aspirations and put victory in his team’s bag. Bharat scored an unbeaten 78 and was adjudged the player of the match.
After the match, he revealed what was going through his mind before the last ball. And what a conversation he had with Glenn Maxwell. Bharat said that winning on the last ball is really special. I can’t tell how I feel after finishing the match on the last ball. During this over, Maxwell and I were talking continuously. He was encouraging me. I was not feeling nervous at any point of time. I was just focused on one ball and was looking for a chance on the last ball after wide and I got it.
I don’t believe in freebies: Bharat
Bharat further said that I work on my batting against spinners. I don’t believe in anything that comes for free, so I work hard for it and as a result I was able to finish the match against Delhi Capitals on the last ball.
The wicketkeeper-batsman formed an important partnership with AB de Villiers and Maxwell after the cheap dismissals of Virat Kohli (4) and Devdutt Padikkal (0). He first with de Villiers 49 for the third wicket and then with Maxwell, adding more than 100 runs for the fourth wicket, gave RCB victory.
