Regarding this, Delhi Police Commissioner Rakesh Asthana held a crime review meeting with senior officers on Saturday and issued instructions to increase vigil in these days.
The senior police officer said, on such occasions (festival season), Delhi Police increases its alert. We increase our visibility, presence and checking to counter any threat.
He said that the Delhi Police has activated community policing like eyes and ears so that the local people inform the police personnel about any anti-social element in their area.
In the crime review meeting of Delhi Police Chief, it was also discussed how to stop terrorists or anti-national elements with the help of local gangsters.
The police officer said that they have made tight security arrangements keeping in mind the ongoing celebrations across the country.
The official said, the safety of the people is our top priority. Police personnel have been deployed on the roads to intensify patrolling at checkpoints to dominate the area.
Policemen can be seen patrolling day and night in different areas of the city. Another official told IANS, “Threat or not, we have to be always ready.”
