New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi will launch the Pradhan Mantri Gati Shakti National Master Plan on October 13 for multi-level connectivity with the economic sectors. It is a digital platform connecting 16 ministries including rail and road. The objective of the scheme is to promote integrated planning and coordinated implementation of infrastructure connectivity projects, a top government official said on Monday. The official said that 16 ministries and departments have put all those projects in GIS mode, which are to be completed by 2024-25.
He said, “Gati Shakti will be a national infrastructure master plan for our country, which will lay the foundation for the overall infrastructure. Right now there is no coordination between our modes of transport. Gati will remove all these hurdles. .
“This will address the problem of unconnected schemes, lack of standardisation, issues of approvals and timely construction and optimum utilization of capacities,” the official said. The platform has been developed by the Institute of Applications and Geo-informatics. The Department for Promotion of Industry and Internal Trade (DPIIT) will be the nodal ministry for monitoring and implementation of all projects.
A National Planning Group will meet regularly to take stock of the projects. An Empowered Group of Secretaries, headed by the Cabinet Secretary, will be constituted to approve any changes in the Master Plan to meet any new requirements. All states have been urged to join this initiative, as it will help in proper implementation of infrastructure projects across the country and the platform data can also be passed on to the private sector in the long run.
The official said projects from ministries like roads, railways, telecom, oil and gas are on this platform, and this could also help the textile and food processing ministries to plan their parks.
