Bhubaneswar, October 27: The Odisha government on Tuesday decided to set up 34 child-friendly police stations in different parts of the state. Its objective is to reduce the mental stress on the children who have to come to the police station for any reason. This information was given in the official release issued here.
According to the statement, Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik approved the proposal to set up 34 such police stations – one in each district. He also holds the charge of the state home department.
According to a statement issued by the Chief Minister’s Office, each child-friendly police station will have beds, chairs, tables, toys and first aid kits for children. The walls of these police stations will have informative photographs. There will be books, magazines and newspapers for the children to read.
