Karnataka will have random covid test for college, school students

Bengaluru: The Karnataka government, in its revised protocol after the detection of the new COVID variant Omicron, has directed the authorities to conduct random COVID tests on college students and school children once in 15 days.

The government in its order has recommended to conduct 1 lakh tests at the district level. It says that random tests should be conducted for students and teachers in colleges, high schools.

The circular states that any student showing symptoms of Kovid will be isolated and will have to undergo a rapid antigen test. If the report is negative, they should be subjected to RT-PCR test as per ICMR guidelines.

It has also been directed that 30 percent of the total tests should be rapid antigen and 70 percent should be RT-PCR. The student community as well as all health workers, aged, ailing, paramedics and nursing college staff and students will have to undergo a COVID test.

Hotel and restaurant workers, mall shopkeepers, marketers, cooks, delivery staff, industrial workers, office workers, pub and bar workers, attendants in malls, cinema halls, crowded dwellers and workers of Anganwadi centers will also be given 15 days. I will have to do a random test once.
