Israel lifts ban on outdoor gatherings

Tel Aviv: Officials said Israeli ministers have decided to lift Covid-related restrictions on the size of outdoor gatherings starting Friday.

Prime Minister Naftali Bennett and Health Minister Nitzen Horowitz have agreed to lift the ban on gatherings, Xinhua news agency quoted an official statement as saying.

Starting Friday, gatherings in open spaces can be held without attendance limits, the office said.

Outdoor events would still be required to operate under the Green Pass, a measure that Israel began implementing on 17 October.

Green pass restrictions limit entry to various public places including restaurants, cinemas, conventions and hotels.

On Sunday, Bennett told Israel’s weekly cabinet meeting that the country was currently exiting the delta wave.
