Sharjah. Virat Kohli’s dream of winning the IPL trophy as captain ended on Monday. In the match of Eliminator of IPL 2021, KKR defeated RCB by 4 wickets. With this RCB’s team was out of the tournament. In the last season too, the team lost the match of Eliminator. Even then the tournament was organized in the UAE. The team has not won the IPL title till date. The major reasons for the team’s defeat were like this.
- After winning the toss, RCB chose to bat. In Qualifier-1, CSK had achieved a target of over 170 runs. In such a situation, Kohli could have bowled first after winning the toss. While bowling first, KKR captain Eoin Morgan said that he wanted to bowl first. That is, he had a strategy.
- The team of RCB could only score 30 runs in the last 5 overs. At one time the team’s score was 70 runs for 2 wickets after 10 overs. In such a situation, it seemed that the team would reach the score of 160 runs. The team lost wickets in the pursuit of playing big shots against off-spinner Sunil Narine. Naren got 4 wickets.
- RCB batsmen could not play freely against any KKR bowler. Only Shivam Mavi gave runs with an economy of more than 8. Leg spinner Varun Chakraborty may not have got the wicket, but he scored only 20 runs in 4 overs. Left-arm spinner Shakib also spent just 24 runs in 4 overs.
- RCB started on the slow pitch with fast bowlers Mohammad Siraj and George Garten. Questioning this, former Indian cricket Gautam Gambhir said that RCB had to try bowlers like Chahal, Harshal, Maxwell Christian in the beginning. Due to this KKR got a good start.
- KKR’s 6 wickets had fallen after 18 overs. But the quota of 4 overs of 3 main bowlers Siraj, Chahal and Harshat Patel were exhausted. That is, the captain did not strategize about the last over. In such a situation, if one big bowler’s over is left, then RCB could have got the advantage in the last over.
