IPL 2021: Ricky is not unhappy with losing, reveals the reason

Delhi Capitals coach Ricky Ponting feels the Indian Premier League (IPL) loss to Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) in the final league match has provided his team a “chance to reflect” ahead of the playoffs. After a dramatic seven-wicket loss to RCB on Friday, Delhi Capitals will look to make a straight entry in the finals when they take on Chennai Super Kings in the first qualifier at the same venue on Sunday.

Ponting said, “The way we ended the match and the way we lost was disappointing. But I’m not at all unhappy about it. I really think it’s good because it will give the players a chance to reflect and think. That’s how we can improve for Sunday’s match.”

“But there was a slightly different result, so you have to forget about the past and start focusing on the next match,” he said.

Ponting also admitted that despite the loss, the team played better than the last few matches the team had won. He said, “We may have lost, but some things were good. I think it is a step forward. If you look at the match against Chennai Super Kings, it was not a great performance, the match against Mumbai was also good. No, but still we were able to win the match.”
