Digital Desk, Abu Dhabi. Nambia beat Scotland by 4 wickets in Group B match played at Sheikh Zayed Stadium. After losing the toss and opting to bat first, Scotland’s top order was demolished by Namibian bowler Ruben Trumpelman in the very first over. Trumpelman showed the way to the pavilion for three Scottish batsmen in the very first over of the match. Trumpelman dismissed Munsey on the first ball, McLeod and Barrington on the third and fourth balls respectively. All three batsmen could not open their account.
In front of Namibia’s strong bowling, only three Scottish batsmen could touch the double figure. For Scotland, Michael Lesky top scored with 44 runs, where he faced 27 balls and hit 4 fours and two sixes. Lesky along with Chris Greaves (25 runs, 32 balls, two fours) shared a 34-ball 36-run partnership for the 6th wicket to take the team to a respectable score. Apart from these two, M Cross scored 19 runs. For Nambia, Trumpelman took three, John Frylink two, while Smith and Wiese took one wicket each.
Chasing 110 runs, Namibia got off to a good start with openers Craig Williams (23 runs, 29 balls, one six) and Michael van Lingen (18 runs, 24 balls, two fours) sharing 28 runs off 27 balls. But Namibia’s innings faltered a bit when three of their batsmen returned to the pavilion in a span of just 17 runs. But after that the experienced David Weiss (16 runs, 14 balls, one six) and JJ Smith (32 runs, 23 balls, two fours, two sixes) for the fifth wicket ensured the team’s victory with a 35-run partnership. In the end, Smith gave his team victory by hitting a six.
