Sana: Yemen’s Houthi rebels have threatened to ban Saudi Arabian products from entering the war-torn nation in response to the Kingdom’s boycott on Lebanese products over a minister’s remarks in Yemen.

Referring to a tweet on Saturday by the head of the militia’s revolutionary committee, Mohammed Ali al-Houti, he said, “If Saudi Arabia bans Lebanese products for the position taken by Information Minister George Kodarhi, I (Houthi) Yemeni government I request you to hold an emergency meeting to decide the ban on Saudi products.

Saudi Arabia has recalled its ambassador to Beirut. The Kingdom has asked the Lebanese ambassador to leave within 48 hours and banned Lebanese products. The Riyadh-led coalition has described the war on the Houthi militias in Yemen as absurd.

Other coalition countries, including the United Arab Emirates, Bahrain and Kuwait, adopted similar measures.

Kodarhi’s remarks were circulated on an Arab media network earlier this week.

However, the Lebanese government said the minister’s remarks were made months before his appointment.

According to Lebanese media, Iran-backed Lebanese Hezbollah has supported Kodarhi’s remarks.
