Good script, casting gives great opportunity to senior actors | Good script, casting gives great opportunity to senior actors

Digital Desk, Mumbai. Veteran actress Soni Razdan, who is playing a pivotal role in the upcoming show Call My Agent: Bollywood, has worked in more than five projects and made her on-screen presence in the last three years. A good actress and theater artist, Soni has recently been seen in several movies like Raazi, No Fathers in Kashmir, War, Yours Truly, Out of Love in web series like The Verdict – State Vs Nanavati. The upcoming show Call My Agent: Bollywood revolves around four talent agents and how they handle the egos and profiles of actors to survive in their talent management company. That’s what the story of the show tells.

Asked whether casting agents and the entire system of talent management give actors the jobs they deserve, Soni told IANS, “I think getting opportunities especially for big actors like us is a two-way process. For some projects the casting will have to be removed. After which the casting agent will reach out to an actor like me. Opportunity for an actor is when a character is written for us, a story is made in the form of a film, web series, or any format. So, when we talk about opportunity, it is not just about my acting or casting but also about finding a script and a platform to showcase that story.

Bollywood star Alia Bhatt’s mother Soni said that now look, not all scripts and every story can be screened on the big screen but still it can have a wide reach. Netflix or any other OTT platform are the places which are able to show these stories. So actors like us are also getting work. He further added that yes, in all the projects I have done in recent times, my casting has been done through casting agents, but the opportunity comes first through writing. That is to say, the whole process of a casting agent and talent management is good, it is both very systematic and well-organized. Directed by Shaad Ali, Call My Agent: Bollywood, an Indian adaptation of a French show starring Aahana Kumra, Aayush Mehra, Rajat Kapoor as well as several Bollywood celebrities, Farah Khan, Ali Fazal, Richa Chadha, Lara Dutta, Jackie Shroff, Dia Mirza Hai is releasing on Netflix on 29 October.
