Drs will be used 1st time in mens t20 world cup 2021 each team will get 2 reviews in an innings

New Delhi. The Decision Review System (DRS) will be used for the first time in the Men’s T20 World Cup, starting October 17 in the UAE and Oman. In the playing conditions issued by the ICC, the use of DRS (DRS In T20 World Cup) has been approved. In every innings, both the teams will get maximum two review chances under DRS. The captain of both the teams will have the right to challenge the decision of the field umpire twice during the innings. If the TV umpire changes the decision after taking a review, then the DRS will remain intact. If the decision is not in favor, the captain will lose the DRS.

In June last year, the ICC’s Governing Council decided to extend an additional failed review in all three formats, keeping in mind the absence of experienced umpires in several matches during the coronavirus pandemic. After this decision of the ICC, two teams are being given two chances in one innings of T20 and ODI and three chances of unsuccessful review to both the teams in every innings of Test.

Changes in the rules of minimum overs also
According to the ESPN Cricinfo report, the ICC has also decided to increase the number of minimum overs for delayed and rain-hit matches. During the group stage of the T20 World Cup, each team will have to bat at least five overs to decide the result using the Duckworth-Lewis method. At present, the same rule is applicable in international T20 cricket. But if the semi-finals and final are interrupted by rain then the number of overs will increase.

Then each team would need to bat for at least 10 overs, as was the case during the Women’s T20 World Cup last year. However, then there was a lot of discussion about this rule after the first semi-final between England and India in Sydney was washed away in the rain. Because then England was out of the tournament due to non-availability of reserve day,

DRS was used for the first time in T20 World Cup in 2018.
DRS was used for the first time in any international T20 tournament of ICC in 2018. Then the Women’s T20 World Cup was played in West Indies. However, then the teams had only one review opportunity. After this it was also used in the Women’s T20 World Cup held in Australia in 2020.

How DRS Works
The ICC had made the DRS rule with the intention of reducing the mistake made in the decisions of the field umpire. Under the DRS, the help of the third umpire is taken in relation to the decision of the on-field umpire through player review or umpire review. DRS is being used in major ICC tournaments such as the Men’s Champions Trophy, the ODI World Cup and the World Test Championship, as well as the Women’s T20 and ODI World Cup.
