Covid and Afghanistan Top Agenda of NATO Parliamentary Assembly

The COVID-19 pandemic and the situation in Afghanistan top the agenda for the 67th annual session of the NATO coalition’s parliamentary assembly. Portugal hosts this parliamentary assembly.
Officials of the Portuguese government, representatives of NATO, defense experts, legislators from 30 NATO member countries and representatives of coalition allies are attending the event, to be held from October 8 to 11, Xinhua news agency reported.
The participants are also scheduled to assess NATO’s relations with Russia and China, and the situation in the Middle East and North Africa.
They will discuss global action on climate change and the fight against misinformation about the pandemic.
President of the NATO Parliamentary Assembly, Gerald Connolly, described Portugal as a key participant in the revision of the alliance’s strategic concept.
Secretary General of the NATO Parliamentary Assembly Ruksandra Popa said the resolutions of the session would be sent to the Secretary-General of NATO and the governments of member states.
