New Delhi: The Center has approved the export of 20 million doses of Novavax Corona Vaccine made by Serum Institute of India (SII) to Indonesia. This information was given by an official of the Ministry of Health on Friday.
The official also said that the Center has also allowed export of 10 million doses of Kovashield to WHO and GABA-led global vaccine-sharing program Covax.
On children’s vaccine, the source said the Center is in no hurry to take any decision, but will go through a thorough scientific evaluation before taking a final call. The government first wants to ensure that it has enough doses to fully vaccinate all its citizens.
India has so far given at least one dose to 81 per cent of its adults and two doses to 41 per cent.
The government has no immediate plans to allow booster shots for its citizens.
Meanwhile, a total of 110 countries have recognized India’s vaccines, Covishield and Covaxin and have agreed to mutual recognition of corona vaccination certificates with India.
A total of 72,94,864 vaccine doses have been given to people in the last 24 hours and till Friday morning the corona vaccination coverage of the country has reached 115.23 crore.
This is achieved through 1,18,39,293 in the session.
The Health Ministry said on Friday that so far the central government (through the free channel and direct state procurement category) has provided more than 129 crore vaccine doses to the states and union territories.
More than 22.66 crore unused doses of vaccine are currently available with the States/UTs.
