Center aims to vaccinate entire adult population by 2021-end: Minister


New Delhi: Union Minister of State for Health and Family Welfare Bharti Praveen Pawar said on Wednesday that the central government has set a target to vaccinate the entire adult population of the country by the end of 2021. So far, more than 99 crore doses of Kovid-19 vaccines have been given in the country.

We have a great responsibility to realize the Prime Minister’s dream of affordable, accessible, safe and modern healthcare in India, he said. The Government of India has launched various nationwide programs for the prevention, control and eradication of communicable and non-communicable diseases and for improving maternal and child health.

The Minister said that working towards the goal of achieving universal health coverage, the Government has launched the world’s largest public funded health program Ayushman Bharat Mission.

Pawar said the scheme has been expanded to include Digital Health Mission, which aims to provide finance under public-private partnership for strengthening health infrastructure.

Talking about India’s health care outcome indicators over the past decade, (which is projected to improve steadily), the Minister said, the government has been working tirelessly to control, prevent and eliminate communicable and non-communicable diseases, whose Because many schemes and programs have been started at the national level. The efforts of the government have improved the health of women, children, infants and newborns.

Bharti Pawar was speaking at the FICCI Healthcare Excellence Award ceremony from Nirman Bhawan on Wednesday. Underlining the efforts made by FICCI to bring various changes and developments in the healthcare sector, he said, we have a great responsibility to achieve the Prime Minister’s dream of affordable, accessible and modern healthcare.

Pawar said, the government has launched several financial assistance schemes over the years to create a conducive environment for development as well as to augment the public-private infrastructure of hospitals, public funded laboratories across the country. The National Medical Commission and Paramedics have been the major achievements of the Council in the field of medical education.
