Former West Indies cricketer Brian Lara believes that Sunrisers Hyderabad should team up with players like all-rounder Jason Holder in the next season of IPL. Hyderabad had a disappointing campaign in IPL 2021, winning just three matches from 14 matches.
Sunrisers removed David Warner from the captaincy in the middle of the season and replaced him with Kane Williamson. However, even this did not affect his performance.
“Holder shone even in a disappointing season. I don’t know if he is an out and out player in T20 or not but I think he should build a team with players like him in his team,” Lara told cricket.com.
Lara said having a local player as captain allows teams to be more flexible with their overseas players for four slots in the playing XI.
Lara said it was difficult to find positivity in a team whose performance kept on deteriorating with every match. However, Lara heaped praise on Rohit Sharma-led Mumbai Indians, who scored their highest score in the IPL despite being ruled out of the tournament on Friday.
