New Delhi: Ashram, a drama series based on true events is now on The Q channel. It shows how a god man takes advantage of the superstitions of his devotees for his agenda. The plot of the ashram is around corruption and crime which is done in the name of superstition. This series is the story of Baba Nirala (Bobby Deol) who has millions of followers as it happens in real life. This series is full of mystery and adventure.

In his series Ashram, he has filmed the cunning Dev Manav who snatches both their money and dreams from the poor in the name of God. This series is a plot of criminal incidents. Bobby Deol appears in a new avatar as Nirala Baba who has more of a dark complexion. The second best performance is by Chandan Roy Sanyal who is seen in the role of Baba’s corrupt right hand.
Aditi Pohankar as Pammi plays a young wrestler who is confident and knows how to fight his battles. She belongs to a poor Dalit family and is a victim of discrimination every day but tries her best to raise voice against the system for such discrimination.
Darshan Kumar appears as Senior Inspector Ujakar Singh, who in the opening scenes appears to be an upper-class man who knows nothing but the contempt of Dalits. Gradually other aspects of his life also emerge. He has good chemistry with Anupriya Goenka who plays a doctor named Natasha.
Dr Natasha is a noble post mortem specialist who is interested in novels based on mysterious incidents like crime and murder. They meet uncovered during the examination of a skeleton in the post-mortem room. Despite being the only woman who is involved in this case, she firmly fights for the truth. Exposed, knowing the people related to this case, they kneel after thinking of the consequences, then only the doctor inspires them to bring out the truth of the case.
Tridha Choudhary plays an important role of Babita who is Satti’s wife. Satti is one of them who works for Baba Nirala in the ashram. His complex character is the most interesting thing in this first season which is definitely going to emerge in the second season.
This 9-episode sensational series directed by Prakash Jha also stars Adhyayan Suman, Vikram Kochhar, Tushar Pandey, Sachin Shroff, Anurita K Jha and Rajeev Siddhartha in pivotal roles.
