Amaravati, October 08. The Andhra Pradesh government has released Rs 6,440 crore as the second installment of its ambitious scheme ‘Aasara Yojana’. About 78.76 lakh women belonging to 7.97 lakh self-help groups will benefit from this amount. Let us tell you that the government had announced to send four installments directly to the bank accounts of SHG women as an assistance of Rs 25,517 crore under this scheme.

On Thursday, Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy addressed a gathering after releasing this assistance amount. During this, the Chief Minister said that the Asra Utsav is being organized in all the districts except Cuddapah district from October 7 to 18 with the Mandal as a unit. The scheme will be implemented in Cuddapah from November 6 to 15 in view of the Budvel by-election to be held on October 30. The government has spent a total of Rs 12,759 crore for implementing YSR Aasara in the last 28 months.

During this, the Chief Minister accused former Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu that he had promised to waive the loans of SHG women during the elections in 2014, but did not fulfill that promise, as a result of which the loan of SHG women was Rs 14,204 crore including interest. 25,517 crore (as on April 2019) and 18.36% SHGs became non-performing assets.

Referring to the welfare schemes being implemented by his government, Jagan said that Rs 8,944 crore was spent on YSR Cheyutha, 24.56 lakh women were benefitted, Rs 5,573 crore on Vidya Deevena, Rs 2,270 crore on Vasathi Deevena, Rs. Rs 881 crore and Rs 982 crore were spent on Total Nutrition.

Rs 400 crore water project

CM Jagan Mohan Reddy sanctioned Rs 400 crore for the drinking water project in Ongole. He announced that water would be drawn from the first tunnel of the Veligonda project by August 2022 and the second tunnel would be ready by February 2023.
