A team of health experts drafted for Omicron

Lucknow: Taking control of the first and second wave of corona infection, the Yogi government is working on all necessary security measures in the state, taking the Omicron variant seriously. Following the instructions of Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, a special team of doctors formed in the second wave of Corona is keeping a close eye on this new variant of Corona. This committee of health experts has prepared a draft after discussing various aspects regarding Omicron. Which this team will soon hand over to the officials. In the draft, the special team of SGPGI has discussed the precautions to be taken in UP regarding this new variant of corona, its dangers, its effects after vaccination.
Dr RK Dhiman, Director, Sanjay Gandhi Post Institute of Medical Sciences (SGPGI), said that vaccination will prove to be the most effective weapon for UP against the new variant. Due to the increased medical facilities in the last one and a half years, now the state is fully prepared to face this new infection. Due to adequate medical resources, UP is able to fight this new variant. He said that in view of the increasing cases of Omicron in other countries, different aspects have been discussed by the institute regarding this new variant. In this particular meeting, it has come to the fore that this new variant of corona spreads rapidly and its infection rate is also high.
Dr RK Dhiman said that according to the assessment of doctors, the infection rate of this new variant may be high, but it is not more dangerous than Delta. He said that according to the assessment of experts, the possibility of increasing mortality from this new variant is less as compared to Delta. He said that to avoid the outbreak of the third wave, there is a need to follow the corona protocol along with vaccination at the earliest.
After the order of the Chief Minister, along with increasing the daily monitoring in the state, monitoring committees are working on alert mode. Dr Dhiman said that along with conducting RTPCR test of all the travelers coming from abroad, if any positive patient is found, then genome sequencing is being done.
