6996 Kovid cases were reported in Kerala, 84 people lost their lives


Thiruvananthapuram:
A statement issued by Kerala Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan said that with less testing over the weekend, Kerala recorded 6,996 new Covid cases on Monday.

According to the statement, around 66,702 samples were tested in the last 24 hours and the test positivity rate was recorded at 10.48 percent.

During this period, 16,576 people have been cured in the state, while the active cases in the state now stand at 1,01,419, of which 10.8 per cent are hospitalised.

84 more deaths were reported in the last 24 hours, taking the death toll to 26,342.

On the vaccination front, 93.4 per cent (2.49 crore) people above the age of 18 years have received the first dose of the COVID-19 vaccine, while 44 per cent (1.17 crore) have been given both the doses.

Meanwhile, a sero survey conducted among 13,600 individuals revealed that 82.6 per cent of the people so far have COVID antibodies.
