5,809 new cases of coronavirus in Malaysia, 55 dead


Kuala Lumpur: As of midnight on Saturday, 5,809 new cases of coronavirus were reported in Malaysia, taking the total number of infected people to 2,541,147. These figures were shared by the Ministry of Health.

Citing data released on the ministry’s website, Xinhua news agency reported that of the new cases of coronavirus, about 27 are external cases, of which 5,782 are local.

At the same time, 55 people have died in the last 24 hours, due to which the death toll has increased to 29,631.

Around 4,712 people infected with the coronavirus have been discharged from hospital after recovery, taking the total number of recoveries to 2,446,197.

There are 65,319 active cases of corona, of which 527 are in intensive care units and 277 of them need help with breathing.

A total of 55,703 doses of the coronavirus vaccine were administered in the country on Saturday and some 78.4 percent of the population received at least one dose and 75.9 percent were fully vaccinated.
