The Saudi-led coalition on Friday announced five people were injured in a Houthi attack targeting Saudi Arabia’s King Abdullah airport in the southwestern port city of Jazan, bordering Yemen.
Coalition spokesman Brigadier-General Turki al-Malki said the attack was carried out through a projectile that hit the airport, Saudi Press Agency reported.
According to a report by Xinhua news agency, the five injured were civilian passengers and airport staff. The spokesperson said the airport is used by thousands of civilian and multinational expatriates.
The Houthi militia targets various Saudi cities, especially in border areas, with missiles and drones. Most of the attacks were foiled before reaching their target.
Saudi Arabia is leading the Arab military coalition that intervened to support the government of President Abd-Rabbu Mansour Hadi in Yemen in 2015 after the Houthis forced him into exile.
