10,944 more Kovid new cases registered in Kerala, 120 deaths


Thiruvananthapuram:
Kerala Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan said in a statement that after testing 95,510 samples in the last 24 hours, 10,944 more people were found infected with Kovid-19 in Kerala on Friday, while the positivity rate in the test stood at 11.45 percent.

He also said that 12,922 people tested negative, taking the total number of active cases to 1,16,645, of which 10.45 per cent were in hospitals.

Another 120 Covid deaths were reported, taking the total death toll to 26,072.

The Congress-led opposition has long been demanding that the current death toll be rigged and demanded a re-investigation of the deaths.

On the vaccination front, 93.2 per cent or 2.49 crore have received their first dose in the above 18 years, of which 43.4 per cent or 1.16 crore have been given both.
